Pumpkin Morning
On the horizon, an orange dot expands
until the whole rim of the sky is suffused
in
orange; then the middleground goes; then
the stain spreads
to the near distance until orange covers
the earth
in all directions, three-hundred-sixty
degrees
of vibrant orange light, a
jack-o’-lantern day
with no darkness, just this dazzling
pumpkin morning.
