In Search of a Song
Barbara Fisher's 1981 residency at PS114 and PS276 in Canarsie
led to the first two In search of a Song volumes.
Volume 3 appeared in 1982 containing 39 poems by 13 young poets
who participated in Ten Penny Players' poetry program in schools and libraries.
Volume 4 was published in 1983 from Barbara's poetry workshop for children at
the Jefferson Market branch of the New York Public Library. It contained the poetry
of one young author, Adrienne Day, with drawings by Barbara Fisher.
Volume 5 presented 29 children who read at the New York Book Fair held in NYU in 1983.
Volume 6 came out in 1984 and presented 51 pages of poetry by Roxanna Mennella
a student at IS 70 who attended Barbara Fisher's after school writing workshop
at the Jefferson Market library. Sarah Wilkins, a student at the Friends School,
also attended Barbara's after school workshop and was published
in her own chapbook, Volume 7.
