Joy

Joy comes in a bottle.
You can buy it at any store.
At the supermarket, it smells like lemon.
You can pour it in water and let the fumes rise
like incense in a temple.
At the department store,
it smells like roses and costs more
but if you refrigerate the bottle
joy will last as long as you want it to.
You can take it out and dab some on
any time you’re in the mood,
and if you mix lemon and roses
in the same kitchen there’s no telling
the height to which you may soar.
